On my own behalf and on behalf of all the executives and staff of the Office of University Publications, I am pleased to welcome you to the Office’s official website. We want this window to be a space for dialogue with students, lecturers, researchers and authors, and an open gateway to books, knowledge, and scientific and pedagogical production.
The Office of University Publications is not merely a publishing, printing and distribution institution. It is a national house of knowledge whose course, over more than fifty years, has been bound to the history and development of the Algerian university. It has accompanied successive generations of students, lecturers and researchers, and has helped to provide the university textbook, to root a culture of scholarly publishing, and to serve the university, in line with the policy and strategies of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and with its aims of developing the Algerian university and strengthening the place of knowledge, research and innovation.
This path has produced a rich scientific and pedagogical collection of more than 6,000 titles across the disciplines, forming an important part of the scientific and pedagogical memory of the Algerian university. The Office also takes care to diversify its output in Arabic, English, Amazigh and French, with the ambition of opening to other languages, so that Algerian scientific production may travel further internationally.
Today, building on this inheritance, the Office is entering a new stage: modernising the publishing system, digitising the scientific collection, and connecting the printed book, the digital book and the smart book, while using artificial intelligence (AI) in the service of students, lecturers and researchers, to make knowledge easier to reach and to enrich learning and research.
We are also working to strengthen Open Access, to develop our platforms and digital services, and to expand national and international partnerships, so as to value Algerian scientific production and increase its presence and circulation, with particular attention to knowledge security, the reliability of content, the protection of authors’ rights and intellectual property, and the preservation of the national scientific and pedagogical memory for future generations.
Our ambition is that the Office of University Publications remain true to its origins, in step with its time and looking to the future, placing the student, the lecturer, the researcher and the author at the heart of its concerns, and helping to write pages of success and excellence for our students as we accompany them on their scientific and academic path.
I take this opportunity to express my appreciation and gratitude to all the authors, lecturers and researchers who have placed their trust in the Office of University Publications, and to all its executives and staff, past and present, who have helped, at every stage of its history, to build this collection, to safeguard it, and to ensure the continuity of the Office’s mission in the service of the university and of knowledge.
As I renew my welcome, I hope this website will be a true gateway to the Office’s publications, services and news, and a space for exchange, interaction and the sharing of knowledge.
